The Pediatric Surge Annex, developed during the Fall of 2020, serves two main purposes:
- To provide healthcare with the information and tools they need to develop internal pediatric disaster response plans, and;
- To provide a concept of operations for a coordinated pediatric regional response in the NWHRN service area.
This document is an appendix to the NWHRN Healthcare System Emergency Response Plan. Additional plans and annexes are referred to within this plan and can be found within the appropriate appendices.
A key component of this plan is Appendix B: “Planning and Caring for Pediatric and Neonatal Patients in Disasters: Inpatient and Outpatient Guidelines” (also known as the “Pediatric Toolkit”). If you are looking to develop your internal pediatric surge or disaster plans ,please start there. Included are numerous resources, guidelines, checklist and trainings.
