Spring 2024 Statewide Communications Exercise
May 7
In an emergency, healthcare partners count on NWHRN for alerts and ongoing situational awareness. This exercise allows NWHRN to sustain its ability to communicate with our partners. For this exercise, all users of WATrac and NWHRN’s new mass notification systems will receive a notification from NWHRN. The purpose of this exercise is to assess the abilities of these systems to send notification of a simulated National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) activation to all users across Washington state. Before the exercise, partners will be asked to confirm their participation and their emergency contact information via a survey. Up-to-date contact information is essential to emergency communication, and confirming your participation allows NWHRN to assess its ability to reach partners. Confirming your participation allows for the Network to differentiate between ignored notifications and recipients who encountered a problem. Confirmed exercise players will be asked to acknowledge the alert in WATrac, SMS text message, automated voice call, and email. This allows NWHRN to assess its ability to reach partners using diverse methods.
Target Audience: All Coalition Healthcare Partners
