On January 21, 2020, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Washington State Department of Health announced the first case of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in the United States in Washington State. The Northwest Healthcare Response Network (NWHRN) is part of the multi-agency response. The NWHRN is activated to support the Washington State Department of Health Incident Management Team, healthcare providers and local health jurisdictions. While the current situation poses a public health threat that we take seriously, we have no evidence the virus is spreading in Washington. The current public health assessment is that the risk to the general public is low.
