As of July 2024, the Washington State Department of Health is implementing changes to its Healthcare Readiness and Response strategy across Washington state.  In support of this direction and to more comprehensively support the needs of healthcare partners in our state in support of our mission, the Northwest Healthcare Response Network (NWHRN) will be expanding our work to provide services in Central and Eastern Washington, including the federally funded Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) work.

With these changes NWHRN is expanding our role to lead healthcare readiness and response to fully support healthcare, public health, and emergency response partners in Central and Eastern Washington.  Click here for a slide deck that highlights a little more about NWHRN.

We are excited that through these changes, we can deepen our efforts to build more robust and resilient healthcare capabilities in the face of any kind of emergency. We are thrilled to grow our partnerships, collaboration and coordination across a broader geographic area to serve our state. We look forward to working with many new partners throughout Central and Eastern Washington.

– Susan Koppelmann, Director of Preparedness and Response

The growth and expansion of our work is an exciting opportunity to further align and enhance our existing mission-centered partnerships and collaboration that are at the core of our organizational DNA. Healthcare in our state is highly interdependent, across geographic boundaries. Building readiness and resilience throughout our healthcare ecosystem depends on working together to build the capabilities that will help us save lives in any kind of public health emergency or disaster.
