This update includes information about the advancement of our collective DMCC planning, high level results from the successful first-of-its-kind Confluent Goal FIFA World Cup ’26 Special Event MCI Surge Virtual Tabletop Exercise on May 6, and the positive response and true engagement we’ve seen related to the WATrac trainings and the high number of participants and information you’re accessing on our website.
We continue to be so proud of the collaboration with many of you as we ready and exercise our MCI plans in advance of the first match in Seattle on June 15.
Just weeks away, it’s important to recognize our preparedness community is also readying for summer severe weather and forest fire impacts, as well as the reality of emerging threats to monitor, such as hantavirus.

The DMCC committee, made up of DMCC planning leads and Network staff, has continued reviewing and refining response plans. Several of these insights informed elements of the confluent FIFA World Cup virtual tabletop exercise. The DMCC framework and operational annex has been completed and working with statewide DMCC partners to create regional annexes.
As we shared, the NDMS April 2026 exercise dates were postponed, and we’ll provide updates as they are available.
Thanks to many of you for your participation and contributions during the May 6 Confluent Goal FIFA World Cup ’26 Special Event MCI Surge Virtual Tabletop Exercise. This first of its kind virtual healthcare tabletop facilitated exercise enabled us to test local and statewide mass casualty incident plans. We saw participation from hundreds of partners, representing every region in Washington as well as state and federal partners.

Shared in the last Ops Update, the Network is now hosting WATrac trainings for hospitals, EMS and other partners. Your response has been significant, with both new and returning users accessing the tools on the Network site at https://nwhrn.org/what-we-do/watrac/.

As a coalition of healthcare emergency partners across Washington, we know that today’s risks are no longer isolated events. That is why the Network remains always on, monitoring concurrent threats and sharing actionable information to support coordinated readiness across our healthcare response community.
