A Note From Susan

This new communication is designed to provide a brief update to you –our close partners-focused on key operational activities, shared learning opportunities, and collaborative work that directly supports readiness and response in our communities. The work we do together is powerful, and your commitment allows us to deliver on priorities that no single organization could accomplish alone. I’m grateful for the partnerships and trust that make this progress possible.

At-a-Glance

The work continues and remains dynamic based on the evolving need of the communities.

While the goals remain the same, the approach to meeting those goals is often modified to reflect the changing availability of participants, always ensuring the work continues:

The Network plays a pivotal role in managing statewide readiness and rapid response to crisis events. We activate plans and tools in support of quick response focused on maintaining essential services for local communities, businesses, and healthcare systems amid increased demand. We were founded as a nonprofit program to ensure Washington state communities could effectively respond to and recover from healthcare crises.

DMCC Planning

The Network has been convening regional DMCCs to identify proven ideas and practices to develop an updated comprehensive, regional DMCC plan. We also are leveraging support from Jensen Hughes to complete this project; more to come.

NDMS Operational surge planning

The Network continues to work on the NDMS surge plan to provide state-wide, large-scale combat operation support in partnership with the University of Washington and UW Medicine; developing a plan to support 100 patients per day for 100 days

FIFA World Cup 2026

We continue to support the planning efforts for World Cup 2026 by supporting healthcare planning with Emergency Management and the Washington State Department of Health. In partnership with UW Medicine, we are convening Puget Sound areas hospitals to ensure comprehensive planning for this event.
