WA State Department of Health recommends a yearly flu vaccine for everyone aged six-months and older. It takes two weeks for the flu vaccine to protect a person from flu.
The flu vaccine does NOT protect against coronavirus, colds, or other viruses that cause respiratory illness. The flu vaccine keeps many people from getting the flu. It’s best for our community to get vaccinated for flu by October each year.
The CDC’s vaccine locator tool has community-based health centers and many commercial pharmacies with hours of operation and which vaccine is provided (e.g. trivalent vs. quadrivalent, high-dose, etc.).
Red Book Online Influenza Resource The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Committee on Infectious Diseases has compiled a comprehensive list of influenza resources to serve as a centralized point of reference for vaccine guidance, prevention, treatment, payment, policies, news, and other information pertaining to influenza for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.
