SUMMARY:2019 UW Medicine EMS & Trauma Conference - Day 2
DESCRIPTION:Please click here to register. \nThe course is sponsored annually by Harborview Medical Center and Airlift Northwest. Harborview is the designated Level I trauma center for Washington State as well as the trauma and burn referral center for Washington\, Alaska\, Montana\, and Idaho (WAMI). \nThis two-day multi-disciplinary conference highlights current issues in trauma care throughout the continuum: pre-hospital\, emergency\, critical care\, acute care\, and rehabilitation. Nationally recognized speakers and local experts in trauma care will present topics pertinent to nurses\, physicians\, paramedics\, social workers\, program managers\, and other healthcare providers. \nMessage from Eileen Bulgar\, MD\, Chief Trauma\, Professor of Surgery\, Harborview Medical Center\, University of Washington: \n“I hope you all have been looking forward to the annual UW Medicine EMS and Trauma Conference. This event will highlight the latest management techniques in pre-hospital\, trauma\, critical care and burn care and we have assembled an excellent lineup of regional and national experts to discuss best practices in the care of these complex patients. \nThis year’s content addresses the challenges in managing severely injured trauma patients during all phases of care from the prehospital setting through to the ICU. Some of the critical questions we plan to answer include: How should we manage Traumatic Brian injury patients to optimize their outcome? How can we best manage the severe pain associated with traumatic injury and reduce narcotic exposure? How can we address the unique challenges of caring for severely injured patient in the rural environment? How do we optimize the EMS response to active shooter events? \nWe hope to answer these questions and more during our two day event on September 23rd and 24th\, 2019. Based on your feedback we’ll also have a pre-hospital track on both days this year. \nIt’s going to be a great show and an excellent opportunity to network and build relationships. I’ll look forward to seeing you September 23rd and 24th.”
