SUMMARY:Molecular Approaches for Clinical and Public Health Applications to Detect Influenza and SARS-CoV-2 Viruses
DESCRIPTION:During this COCA Call\, clinicians will learn critical information about molecular approaches for clinical and public health applications to detect the influenza virus and SARS-CoV-2\, the virus that causes COVID-19. Presenters from the Centers for Disease and Prevention (CDC) will review the most up to date guidance on clinical testing for influenza\, including situations when influenza and SARS-CoV-2 are co-circulating in a community or other setting. In addition\, presenters will provide in-depth discussion on cycle threshold (Ct) values from SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic assays and their correlation with viral load and infectiousness. Presenters will also discuss SARS-CoV-2 sequencing applications for public health. \nSee CDC webpage for more information. \nWebinar link here. \nClinician Outreach and Communication Activity (COCA)\n\n\n\n\n\nCDC COCA prepares clinicians to respond to emerging health threats and public health emergencies by communicating relevant\, timely information related to disease outbreaks\, disasters\, terrorism events\, and other health alerts.

SUMMARY:Antibiotic Prescribing and COVID-19
DESCRIPTION:What Clinicians\, Pharmacists\, and Public Health Partners Need to Know\nThe Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has published several studies characterizing antibiotic prescribing during the COVID-19 pandemic in outpatient\, nursing home\, and hospital settings. Findings from these studies and others inform opportunities to improve antibiotic use and guide the development of resources to support healthcare professionals and health systems. Case studies representing common clinical scenarios will be discussed to support decisions related to antibiotic prescribing. \nDuring this Clinician Outreach and Communication Activity (COCA) Call\, clinicians\, pharmacists\, and public health partners will learn about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on antibiotic prescribing and strategies for optimizing antibiotic prescribing. \nMore information can be found here

SUMMARY:Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) Formulary Overview (recording)
DESCRIPTION:An archived recording of CDC’s September 2017 webinar\, “Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) Formulary Overview\,” is available on DSLR’s Online Technical Resource and Assistance Center (On-TRAC) through February 17th. \nThe 40-minute video provides an overview of the SNS formulary\, regulatory considerations needed for products available in the SNS\, and threat-specific pharmaceuticals\, medical supplies\, and equipment available in the SNS. The associated question-and-answer document from the webinar also is posted on On-TRAC. \nTo access and view the archived webinar\, a CDC TRAIN account is required and can be created here. A CDC Join account is required to access On-TRAC\, and a registration form is available online. The SNS webinar course ID number is 1073605. \nDue to the changing nature of the SNS formulary and sensitivity of the content\, the archived webinar recording and associated question-and-answer document will only be available on TRAIN until February 17\, 2018. \nQuestions regarding the webinar recording or about TRAIN registration should be directed to DSNSTrain@cdc.gov.
